Description
The « SP Noir » series transports the viewer to the intriguing and mysterious city of São Paulo in the 1970s, a time when the city was rapidly transforming and the essence of film noir was interwoven with its urban landscapes. This collection of ink paintings captures not only the city’s physical landscape in that decade but also the unique atmosphere surrounding it.
Film Noir is known for its distinctive visual style, characterized by deep shadows, complex narratives, and an aura of mystery. Just as noir films explored the dark psychology of their characters, the paintings in “SP Noir” delve into the layers of history and emotion that permeate old images of São Paulo. Each stroke of ink reveals a city that was in transition, a São Paulo that was both fascinating and disturbing, hidden in the shadows of its own development.
Browsing through images and films from a past era fosters an understanding of how the city was characterized and transformed. The role of the artist is to see the beauty in memories and reproduce it in order to dive into it. this collection invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the mysterious and compelling atmosphere that defined an era.
